Date: 02 November 2006 - as appeared in the Hervey Bay Independent Aggregate Corporation director and senior psychologist Elizabeth Benson-Stott has been named Sunshine Coast Region Rural and Remote Manager of the Year in the Australian Institute of Management Excellence Awards. The awards have been running in Queensland and the Northern Territory for the past 16 years and involve four categories: professional manager, young manager, owner manager, and rural and remote manager. Mrs Benson-Stott will now have a chance to compete in the state MEA awards to be held in Brisbane. MEA Queensland and Northern Territory coach Cheryl Anderson said applying for the awards involved a rigorous process that started with nomination by someone else. The nominee then submitted a written application and, if shortlisted, attended an interview with a panel of three judges. Entrants in the rural and remote category must live at least 75km from a provincial city that has an AIM office, in this case the Sunshine Coast. There were 350 nominations across the state and the finalists for the Sunshine Coast Rural and Remote Manager of the Year Award all came from Hervey Bay.
